Having a custom 3D design made means: you tell us what you need, we design it and then print it here in PETG. You do not have to be a 3D modeller. We adapt an existing model, work in a name, date or text, make something fit your dimensions, or find or create a model that suits your idea. A description with a photo or a sketch is enough to get started.

What we design for you
Designing, in our case, means making sure there is a 3D model that is correct and that can actually be printed. There are a few routes, depending on what you already have.
Adapting an existing model
The model you found is almost right, but not quite. A hole needs to be bigger, a tab has to go, the mounting has to sit differently. We adapt it so that it does fit what you have in mind. Having an existing 3D file edited, such as enlarging a hole or removing a tab, is not the same as redrawing a part from scratch; the cost is stated upfront in the quote.
Redrawing a simple part
There is no model at all, only the broken part itself. Send a photo with a tape measure or ruler next to it and the dimensions that really have to be right, and we redraw the simple part. A name, date or text worked in
A name plate for a door or a desk, a keychain or a figure with initials worked into it. Send us the text with your request, then we work it into the model and the quote tells you what you get.
Made to fit your dimensions
A holder that has to fit your device exactly, a stand for a shelf of a certain depth, a bracket that has to land between two screw holes. Give us the dimensions and we scale and adjust the model to match.
Getting it ready to print
A model can look fine on screen and still not print. We look at wall thickness, at the orientation on the print bed and at overhangs that need support. If your model is larger than 350 x 320 x 325 mm, we split it up and join the parts afterwards; see printing large objects.
You only have an idea
No model, no sketch, just an idea in your head. Describe what you are looking for and what it is for. We then look for a suitable model or create one, and the quote tells you what it will be. Examples of what people have made are under inspiration.
The difference between a 3D design and a 3D print
A 3D design is the digital file: the shape, the dimensions and the details of your object. A 3D print is the physical object the printer makes from it in PETG. We do both in the same place: first we draw, then we print. If you already have the file, you skip the design.
What we need from you
The more concrete you are, the less back and forth. A photo often says more than half a page of text, and dimensions say more than a photo. Nothing has to look neat: a sketch on a scrap of paper is fine, as long as the dimensions are on it.
Everything goes through the request form. Choose "Just an idea" there and write down what it needs to become. You can add photos (PNG, JPG, JPEG or WEBP), and a file too if you do have one: STL, OBJ, 3MF, ZIP, up to 50 MB per file.
Useful to include
- A photo of the part, or of the spot where it has to fit, with a tape measure or ruler next to it
- The dimensions that really have to be right, and which ones those are. Often there are only one or two.
- What it is for: hanging something up, holding something in place, standing something on it, or purely decoration
- Whether it will be used indoors or outdoors, and whether it has to take any force
- A sketch, even a hand-drawn one, with the dimensions written on it
- A link to a model that comes close, if you have found one
How a design request works
You send in your idea
A description, a photo or a sketch, plus the dimensions that have to be right. You also choose colour and quantity. Straight afterwards you get a personal tracking link.
We tell you what is possible
Because the model still has to be drawn, the quote is in your inbox within 3 to 5 working days. It states what we are going to make and what it costs. If something is unclear or not feasible the way you pictured it, we ask you first.
You decide
The quote stays valid for 14 days and commits you to nothing. If you agree, you pay online, for example with iDEAL, and only then do we get to work.
We draw it and print it
We get the model ready to print and start the printer. The expected delivery time is stated in your quote. Pick-up in The Hague is free, delivery goes via PostNL.
Already have an object, part or drawing?
If an existing part, a sketch or a dimensioned drawing needs redrawing, that is the same route at the same prices. What you send us for it and how accurate it will be is explained on having a custom 3D model made.
How much does a custom 3D design cost?
The printing itself is charged per gram: € 0.19 per gram of PETG, with a minimum of € 6.00 per order, including 21 percent VAT. What else the cost depends on is explained on what 3D printing costs.
What it comes to for your idea is set out in the quote. Scaling a model or moving a hole is simply not the same as redrawing a part from scratch.
No printer starts until you have approved the quote and paid. If the quote is not what you hoped for, you simply let it expire. That costs nothing.
3D design in The Hague: designed and printed in the same place

Having a design made as a private customer
You do not need to be a business to have something designed. For a single hook, a holder for at home or a replacement part for an appliance you are welcome too, and one piece is enough. The quote does not commit you to anything, and you only pay once you agree, for example with iDEAL. For businesses it works the same way, with a quote in the company name.
Rather design it yourself?
For a name plate we do not need to design anything: you put it together yourself in the online designer and see a price estimate straight away. Everything you can design yourself is on design it yourself.
Frequently asked questions about 3D design
Do I need to be able to draw in 3D?
No. You do not need to know any CAD software and you do not need a file. A description with a photo or a sketch is enough to get started.
How long does a 3D design take?
You receive a quote within 3 to 5 working days, valid for 14 days. After your approval and payment we draw and print; the expected delivery time is stated in your quote.
What if the design is not right straight away?
With simple design work one revision round is included in the fixed price, so you can have it adjusted once. For larger work the quote states how many hours we expect, so you know where you stand beforehand.
Do I get the file as well?
What you get is your print. If you would also like the file itself, mention that in your request and we will let you know whether that is possible and what it means for the quote.
Can I have my idea checked for printability first?
Yes, and we do not charge for that. Send in your description or your file and ask for a check. You then hear what is possible before you decide anything.
May I sell the model you make?
If it is an adapted model that originally came from the internet, the licence of that model still applies; many licences allow personal use only. What that means is explained under where to find good models. If you want to sell prints, mention that with your request and we will work out together what is possible.
